Replication – The process of creating a duplicate by means of injection molding and not copying. Replication is the process where we take your master (CD, DVD, DLT etc.) and make a glass master and stamper of the data. A glass master of the pits and lands of your digital data is made. A glass master is fragile and can’t be used for molding so a stamper or metallization of the glass master is made. The plant owns the glass master and stamper. They can not be used at other replication plants. The stamper is used to make a polysubstrate of the digital pits and lands. This clear disk holds the information from the master but it can’t be read with out a reflective layer. The polysubstrate has a reflective layer applied and a thin coating of varnish to protect the delicate layers. The finished disk can be printed on using a silkscreen or offset printing method. Silkscreen is generally used for vector or color matched art. Offset printing is used for photographic or CMYK images.
Replication is 1000 pcs. Minimum. The replication process takes 10 – 12 business days from the time the master is received to the packaged product. You will be asked to approve art for replication jobs. Please get an approval to us as soon as you can or it can hold up your job. All replication jobs require an IPR form to be submitted with every master.
Cut disks such as hockey rink, mini round and business cards are also available please contact your sales rep for more information.
